Accreditation and Approval

California University of Technology has received approval to operate from the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education (BPPVE), a division of the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs.

An approval to operate means that the Bureau has determined and certified that the institution meets the minimum standards for integrity, financial stability, and educational quality, including the offering of bona fide instruction by qualified faculty and the appropriate assessment of students’ achievement prior to, during, and at the end of its programs.

The California University of Technology has completed the stringent government approval process and is fully approved with the highest degree granting authority that can be bestowed upon an institution in the state of California. The University has also completed all of the requirements necessary to function as an exemplary degree granting institution fully compliant with the regulations and laws required by the Los Angeles County, the state, and the United States government guidelines governing institutions of higher learning.

As a voluntary measure, the University has also adopted policies, procedures, and regulations to be aligned with many of the best practices recommended by the appropriate regional and national accrediting bodies of the United States. As such, the University benefits by having a multi-disciplined internal approval process that integrates the best regulations and procedures of multiple accreditations, rather than only being able to present just one regional or national accreditation as a standard on which to determine the quality of the University. This proactive approach allows us to foster an environment of institutional effectiveness while maintaining strict standards of quality and remaining focused on student learning and equitable student services with clear regulatory guidelines. The University is NOT currently accredited by any accreditation agency; however, through this process the University is working towards achieving this goal.

For a complete description of our regulatory compliance, approvals, and our quality standards, please refer to our official catalog for this academic year.

The California University of Technology voluntarily agreed to comply with all of the following: state statutes, rules, and regulations pertaining to a private postsecondary institution or pertaining to a non-WASC regionally accredited institution as defined in Section 94740.5 of the Education Code, as it existed on June 30, 2007, in effect as of the close of business on June 30, 2007, because of our valid approval to operate or authorization pursuant to Section 94905 of the Education Code, as it existed on June 30, 2007, for the purpose of ensuring continued student protection after Chapter 7 (commencing with Section 94700) of Part 59 of Division 10 of Title 3 of the Education Code became inoperative. An executed copy of our voluntary agreement letter is on file with the state of California Department of Consumer Affairs and verification of our voluntary compliance is located at http://www.bppve.ca.gov/voluntaryagreelist.pdf
